The Kids normally do not share personal posts, they stick to mostly educational information. However, they felt so bad that such a young 'cousin' had to suffer like this. Please, there are alternative methods and remedies instead of these drugs. Hug that neck that loves you to the moon and back! Keep them safe, they trust you.

Hello thank you for allowing me to join the pack. I recently had to put my 10 month old dog to rest. Benji doodle was my first ever dog. I waited till I was retired to get a dog because I never wanted to leave a dog alone all day.When Benji was 12 weeks old I took him for his vaccines and while there I was given a Nexgard chewy and told to wait a couple weeks before giving it to him. I waited two weeks and then remembered the chewy. I still get flash backs of coaxing him to take the chewy in the kitchen. The next day he was sitting on the couch and started frothing at the mouth with his head shaking. I thought he was choking on something. It stopped after a minute or so and awhile later he had his first grand mal seizure. After it was over and I bathed him he fell asleep and I went online to do some research on puppies and seizures. The first thing I saw was the FDA warning regarding Nexgard and that class of drug. I panicked.
I brought him into the vet crying my eyes out and screaming about Nexgard. I could not believe no one told me about the risk of neurological side effects. Long story short he had cluster seizures as many as 17 over two days before we were able to get them stopped. For 7 months we tried every drug and holistic remedy available. He was on phenobarbital, keppra, potassium bromide and several emergency drugs, plus CBD, milk thistle and neuroplex and and and. Nothing was working, in his last month he had only two good days. His last night he had two very long grand mals, his eyes went black and flipped up to the outside with his second lids raised, he didn’t know us was blind for about 1/2 hour and super aggressive which I took for being in pain. I finally made the call and have been devastated.
What I have learned in 7 months is staggering about the pharmaceutical companies, vets, food, holistic’s, etc etc has brought me here today. I have begun to think about another puppy but I am so anti vet and pharmaceutical right now. I want to learn everything I can from this group so nothing like this ever happens again!

Rover's Kids do eat some kibble but really prefer the real deal food. Be careful in your choices of kibble for the 'starch/carb' levels. Just noticed that Keto Pet Sanctuary has a kibble now. They cure cancer with food .. take a look. Mother Nature knows best.

Rover's Kids want to share a Happy Tail with you! Even though we are a small dog rescue we sometimes just cannot help ourselves when it comes to helping a big dog. Bernadette, a Bernese Mountain Dog, came as a puppy so she was still small and fit right in, she ran with the best of them!
We were doing a home visit for another small Kid and the person mentioned a friend
that was looking for a Bernese... so we did a home visit and it was a perfect match!

To the ones that "never see any coyotes" take a look at this short video... close the dog doors! The smaller dogs would have been dead at the first strike. Just ask the Sun Lakes people that have lost their dogs to coyotes... sad.

This is in California but but it is a perfect example that was caught on video! It states that this happened a week prior with another dog too. Rover's Rest Stop & Ranch NEVER let the Kids outside alone, day or night.

May 6 at 11:30 AM Alright folks, this is going to be a very difficult story to tell, but I feel compelled to share this information. This past week has been an extremely difficult journey for us. Our sweet baby Lily got into one of my houseplants and ended up fighting for her life at the emergency vet for nearly a week. She is now home with a feeding tube and a medication schedule that spans from 7 AM until 12 AM daily. There have been many tears shed, dollars spent, and guilt felt... all because of a $5 plant.
I’d like to spread the word about this houseplant because I had no idea when I purchased it from a big box garden center last summer that this little 6-inch plant would become my nightmare. The Sago Palm is a common house plant and landscaping plant native to tropical regions. All parts of the plants are extremely toxic to humans and animals causing liver failure and death from even minimal exposure. All parts includes the trunk, roots, leaves, and small berry-like seeds that can develop on mature plants. I have seen this plant for sale on the shelves at Walmart, Lowes, and Home Depot sitting among other harmless household plants with zero warning label attached.
***Update: On Saturday, May 16, Lily passed away in our arms. She fought hard, loved hard, and gave us a couple butt wiggles just before she just couldn’t fight any longer. We loved her so very much and gave her all the love and care in the weeks since the incident we could possibly give. We are truly devastated.
If you are a houseplant lover, please research your house plants prior to purchasing. Even if you think the house plant is in a secure location, mischievous little paws may still get into trouble.
Feel free to share this story. You may just save a life.

OMG! You cannot believe what labels say... the companies lie to us for products and food. You can do better for the Kids. I don't recommend using Dawn as it is still chemicals. The dog's skin is a different pH than ours and our shampoo is too strong for them. Just an FYI!
P.S. Never use oatmeal in shampoo! Feeds yeast/skin issues.

Rover's Kids L-O-V-E music... it is going all the time, we sing and dance in the yard too! They even like the 4th of July fireworks... Mom gets to watch in the sky and they get to play and have treats so they could care less. There are Kids that are sensitive to thunderstorms. It has been recommended to play thunderstorm music very very soft in the background and gradually turn the volume up over a long period of time, it is supposed to desensitize them. I went to http://www.musicmypet.com and there are several different options of music that you can play, maybe with your speakers on and test your Kid's response. There are other options too like diffusing lavender or other combinations of oils. One good thing about living in the Phoenix area, not too many thunderstorms..
